The earth shook Salmon Arm last night as a magnitude 2.2 quake occurred near the small city.

The incident was "lightly felt" according to Natural Resources Canada (NRC), which monitors earthquakes, around 8:39 p.m. last night (March 2). The epicentre was to the city's northeast and about one km below the surface.

According to the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, the quake was felt by many, but didn't cause any need for the regional district's emergency services to be activated.

NRC is reporting there have been no reports of damage, and none are expected. The NRC's website states any earthquakes below a 5.0 magnitude aren't expected to cause damage.

The NRC has some information up about the quake, HERE. There's also a questionnaire to fill out, if you felt it and want to, HERE.
