B.C. Votes 2020: Here’s the past five election results in Prince George, provincially

With many already voting by mail and some planning to head to the polls on Saturday, Oct. 24, here’s a clearer picture of how the past five elections have gone in the Prince George ridings as well as B.C.

All lists are in alphabetical order:

2001

Prince George-Valemount

  • Lelani Lynn Arris - BC Green Party - 1,429 votes - 9.91 per cent
  • Shirley Bond - BC Liberal Party - 8,033 votes - 55.72 per cent (WINNER)
  • Joseph Andrej Dewolf - BC Marijuana Party - 744 votes - 5.16 per cent
  • Erle Martz - Reform Party of BC - 445 votes - 3.09 per cent
  • Todd Whitcombe - BC NDP Party - 18.42 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 14,544 ballots cast – 68.80 per cent

Prince George North

  • Pat Bell - BC Liberal Party - 9,215 votes - 61.02 per cent (WINNER)
  • Hilary Crowley – BC Green Party - 1,137 votes - 7.53 per cent
  • Robert Grimsrud - BC Marijuana Party - 588 votes - 3.89 per cent
  • Leif Jensen - Independent - 76 votes - 0.51 per cent
  • Bryan Llewellyn - NDP - 2,148 votes - 14.22 per cent
  • David G. Low  - Unity Party of BC - 838 votes - 5.55 per cent
  • Lisa Maskwell - Western Reform - 621 votes - 4.11 per cent
  • Fred McLeod - Independent - 478 votes - 3.17 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 15,169 ballots cast – 71.77 per cent

Prince George-Omineca

  • Will Dewolf - BC Marijuana Party - 646 votes = 3.81 per cent
  • Ed John - BC NDP - 3,156 votes - 18.58 per cent
  • Eldon Matte - Unity Party of BC - 1,685 votes - 9.92 per cent
  • Paul R. Nettleton - BC Liberal Party - 10,469 votes - 61.65 per cent (WINNER)
  • David Usher - Green Party Political Association of BC - 1,026 votes - 6.04 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 17,066 ballots cast – 73.70 per cent

Provincial result:

  • BC Liberal Party 916,888 votes – 57.26 per cent (WINNER)
  • BC NDP – 343,156 votes – 21.56 per cent
  • Premier of B.C. elected: Gordon Campbell, BC Liberals
  • Voter turnout: 1,599,765 ballots cast – 70 per cent

2005

Prince George-Mount Robson

  • Shirley Bond – BC Liberal Party – 5,885 votes – 41.06 per cent (WINNER)
  • Matthew James Burnett - BC Marijuana Party - 241 votes - 1.68 per cent
  • Wayne Mills - BC NDP - 4,994 votes - 34.85 per cent
  • Paul Robert Nettleton - Independent - 2,158 votes - 15.06 per cent
  • Don Roberts - Green Party Political Association of BC - 1,053 votes - 7.35 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 14,621 ballots cast - 58.41 per cent

Prince George North

  • Pat Bell - BC Liberal Party - 7,697 votes - 49.93 per cent (WINNER)
  • Gebdrin Debus - Green Party Policical Association of BC - 1,201 votes - 7.79 per cent
  • Lief Jensen - Independent - 443 votes - 2.28 per cent
  • Mike Mann - DRBC - 443 votes - 2.88 per cent
  • Deborah Poff - BC NDP - 5,598 votes - 36.32 per cent
  • Steve Wolfe - BC Marijuana Party - 235 votes - 1.52 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 15,415 ballots cast -  61.55 per cent

Prince George-Omineca

  • Andrej J. DeWolf - BC Green Party - 1,393 votes - 8.35 per cent
  • Chuck Fraser - BC NDP - 6,180 votes - 37.06 per cent
  • Erle Martz - DR BC - 479 votes - 2.88 per cent
  • John Rustad - BC Liberal Party - 8,622 votes - 51.71 per cent (WINNER)
  • Voter turnout: 16,765 ballots cast – 64.22 per cent

Provincial result

  • BC Liberal Party - Gordon Campbell - 807,118 votes - 45.80 per cent (WINNER)
  • BC NDP - 731,719 votes - 41.52 per cent of votes
  • Premier of B.C. elected – Gordon Campbell, BC Liberals
  • Voter turnout: 1,774,269 ballots cast – 58 per cent

2009

Prince George-Valemount

  • Shirley Bond - BC Liberal Party - 9,072 votes - 50.61 per cent (WINNER)
  • Julie Carew - BC NDP - 6,737 votes - 37.58 per cent
  • Andrej Joseph DeWolf - BC Green Party - 1,225 votes - 6.83 per cent
  • Gordon Wilfred Dickie - BC Conservative Party - 780 votes - 4.35 per cent
  • Don Roberts - Refed BC - 113 votes - 0.63 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 18,041 ballots cast – 51.95 per cent

Prince George-Mackenzie

  • Pat Pell - BC Liberal Party - 9,816 votes - 56.05 per cent (WINNER)
  • Kevin Creamore - BC Green Party - 1,245 votes - 7.11 per cent
  • Tobias Lawrence - BC NDP - 6,452 votes - 36.84 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 17,671 ballots cast – 53.69 per cent

Provincial result

  • BC Liberal Party – 751,661 votes – 45.82 per cent (WINNER)
  • BC NDP - 691,564 votes - 42.15 per cent
  • Premier of BC elected: Gordon Campbell, BC Liberals
  • Voter turnout: 1,651,567 ballots cast – 50.99 per cent

  • Shriely Bond - BC Liberal Party - 11,291 votes - 56.95 per cent (WINNER)
  • Nathan Giede - BC Conservative Party - 1,015 votes - 5.57 per cent
  • Sherry Ogasawara - BC NDP - 7,116 votes - 35.89 per cent
  • Donald A. Roberts - Christian Heritage Party of BC - 314 votes - 1.59 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 19,826 ballots cast – 56.56 per cent

Prince George-Mackenzie

  • Bobby Deepak - BC NDP - 6,488 votes - 34.27 per cent
  • Karen McDowell - BC Green Party - 1,077 votes - 5.69 per cent
  • Mike Morris - BC Liberal Party - 10,524 votes - 55.58 per cent (WINNER)
  • Terry Rysz - BC Conservative Party - 845 votes - 4.46 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 18,934 ballots cast – 56.86 per cent

  • BC Liberal Party – 795,274 votes – 44.13 per cent (WINNER)
  • BC NDP – 715,855 votes – 39.72 per cent

2017

Prince George-Valemount

  • Shirley Bond - BC Liberal Party - 11,209 votes - 58.20 per cent (WINNER)
  • Natalie Fletcher - BC NDP - 5,694 votes - 29.56 per cent
  • Nan Kennedy - BC Green Party - 2,356 votes - 12.24 per cent
  • Voter turnout: 19,413 ballots cast – 56.75 per cent

Prince George-Mackenzie

  • Hilary Crowley - BC Green Party - 2,109 votes - 11.23 per cent
  • Bobby Deepak - BC NDP - 5,942 votes - 31.65 per cent
  • Mike Morris – BC Liberal Party – 10,725 votes – 57.12 per cent (WINNER)
  • Voter turnout: 18,922 ballots cast – 57.44 per cent

Provincial Result

  • BC Liberal Party, Minority (WINNER) – defeated by non-confidence vote
  • BC NDP and BC Green party make coalition to form government
  • Premier of BC: John Horgan
  • Voter turnout: 1,986,374 ballots cast – 61.68 per cent
