COVID-19 case confirmed at Canada Post processing centre in B.C.

An employee at the Canada Post processing centre in Richmond has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, the corporation says it was notified of the positive test on Thursday (Sept. 24).

The staff member last worked at the Pacific Processing Centre on Sunday, Sept. 20.

The employee was exposed to the virus outside of work, according to the statement.

While at work, they wore a mask and practised physical distancing.

The processing centre was deep-cleaned and sanitized following Canada Post protocol.

“We are putting safety first and will continue to evaluate the situation, work with public health officials and our local joint health and safety committee and keep our employees and the public informed,” the statement reads.
