Mornings are colder with the thermometer below zero at times. That means winter is just around the corner. It also means it's time to start thinking about putting on those snow tires.

We've compiled a list of local shops that will get the job done.

Truckin Tires

Try saying THAT five times fast (maybe don't try it in front of the kids...).

If you don't have time to go to the shop or you would just rather not go, Truckin Tires will come to you.

Jim Schwentner's company is completely mobile. He is currently in the process of expanding which will include a swap.

Truckin Tires also sells tires and will take any old ones off your hands.

You can reach Truckin Tires at 250-552-1017 and find them at 5130 N Nechako Rd.

Budget Brake and Muffler

They do more than just brakes and mufflers, guys.

Budget Brake and Muffler have a large selection of quality tires for winter. They also do swapping, balancing, flat repair, tire installation and rotation.

Mike Godfrey and his team will be happy to help you.

They are open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They're located at 1795 Victoria St.

Kal Tire

Whether you are looking for winter, all-weather, studded/non-studded, Kal Tire has a large selection of tires.

When you purchase new tires from Kal Tire, you also get "Kal's Customer Care Plan," which includes a 30-day, no-hassle purchase guarantee and free flat repairs and free balancing.

They carry all major brands, including Nittro, Nokian Tires, Nordman, Firestone, BFGoodrich, Michelin, and others.

Prince George has two locations 750 Boundary Rd. (250-561-1525) and 1073 Central St. W (250-562-2105).

Both locations are open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are closed on Sunday.

They also offer tire storage when you swap your tires so you don't have to lug them home.

OK Tire

OK Tire carries the major brands you expect to find at a tire shop.

The tire protection plan helps repair or replace a flat tire and/or damaged rim due to road hazards such as potholes, nails, glass and debris.

The neat thing about most OK Tire stores is that they are family-owned. The Prince George location has been operational for over 50 years.

OK Tire is located at 1655 20th Ave. You can call 250-562-3131 or text them at 778-654-1100.

They are open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on the weekend.

Fountain Tire

We all know the FOUR FOR THREE SALE commercials on TV and the radio.

Right now, that sale is currently on at Fountain Tire (which can save you quite a bit of money in the end). The offer ends on Oct. 27.

They also have a national limited warranty program when you purchase tires. It includes a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, free tire rotations, and free road hazard protection on most tire purchases (excludes most “LT” designated tires).

You can find them at 1039 Great St. How great is that?

You can call them at 250-562-6211.

They are open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For the sake of everyone on the road, make sure you are prepared for winter. This is not Vancouver.
