If you know Jim Good, you know a few things about him, but the biggest trait that leaves you in awe is his selflessness.

While he may not appear as one to ask for help, he now needs the community to help him.

For those who don't know, Jim is the creator of Goodsir Nature Park.

It was 30 years ago on June 21 that Good founded the park, which spans 160 acres and features over 2,000 plant species, which he has collected throughout his travels across Canada.

While Jim is selfless and does everything for the community of Prince George, he's currently going through some difficult financial circumstances.

According to a GoFundMe set up by Claire Warner (a volunteer), Good is in a dire situation when it comes to funds, with a goal of $10,000 being raised for him.

"Jim Good has poured his heart and soul into creating Goodsir Nature Park for Prince George community members and visitors to enjoy," the fundraiser reads. "He has also spent the majority of his own money on this park over the past four decades and is now in financial despair and his quality of living has reached an awful level by not being able to afford basic amenities."

He didn't say anything about the situation because he didn't want the celebrations of the 30 year anniversary to be spoiled.

The main struggle is with Jim's home. He has put himself and his modest salary as a janitor into the park, which many are lucky to enjoy today.

His furnace is currently cracked and the GoFundMe says this alone is a major fire hazard in his home.

He doesn't have a safe fire burning unit and takes risks each time he makes a fire to keep himself warm.

The chimney on his home is also severely decayed.

So decayed he has tried to save it by placing corrugated roofing inside of it.

The fumes are a major hazard to Jim's health, who recently suffered two major heart attacks and underwent major heart surgery in Vancouver.

He also is going through large amounts of wood, to attempt to keep warm.

The propane tank he owns has not been used in 20 years and it is in dire need of servicing and filling so he doesn't have to burn through the wood during the winter.

"Jim physically does not have the strength to chop or even carry the wood anymore, so requires an electric splitter to aid him in preparing wood in his yard." the GoFundMe states.

Another heartbreaking situation for Good is his 30-year-old water tank.

The tank needs to be assessed and fixed or replaced since he hasn't been able to afford to use salt in his system.

The GoFundMe says he has not had access to hot water for 20 years.

"This will ensure that Jim can bathe and meet his healthcare needs and live a normal life in his retirement at Goodsir Nature Park." the fundraiser also states.

His washer has also been broken for close to 20 years and due to his lack of mobility, he needs a replacement.

"We believe Jim deserves an EXTREME home makeover and all of our support as a small gesture of our gratitude," says the campaign. "We are concerned that Jim needs these repairs urgently given that all of the work needs to be completed before our winter which begins in October 2019."

A well-known businessman, John Brink, has agreed to personally match the first $5,000 that is donated for Jim, in hopes the goal of $10,000 can be raised.
