Numerous drivers were handed hefty fines this past Labour Day long weekend at the hands of RCMP across the city

“Approximately 1,869 vehicles were observed by RCMP volunteers with over 112 violations recorded between speeding and distracted driving”, Volunteer Program Coordinator for Prince George Mike Burt said in a release.

“Some were issued violation tickets, while others will receive a warning letter in the mail.”

Two incidents were made extremely notable.

A Ford Mustang and the driver were pulled over after going 74 kilometres per hour in a 50-kilometre zone.

The vehicle was also uninsured, which resulted in a towing of the vehicle and substantial fines.

In another incident, a second driver failed to produce a Driver's License after being stopped for going 75 kilometres per hour in a 50-kilometre zone.

Eight drivers were handed tickets for using an electronic device while driving, which is a fine of $360.

Mounties will be conducting more speed and distracted driving enforcement throughout September as kids return to classrooms across the province.
