Prince George RCMP have arrested two men connected to a break-and-enter in the Hart region earlier today (July 17).
Around 9:45 a.m. this morning, police received report of a home alarm on Mountainview Road near Chief Lake Road, which was confirmed to PrinceGeorgeMatters this afternoon by Cpl. Craig Douglass.
"It's not a home invasion, it’s a break-and-enter that occurred earlier in the day," Douglass explained. "There was an altercation between the police and the suspects which resulted in suspects being arrested and some vehicles damaged."
He’s referring to the incident that took place on Highway 97 at Noranda Road after 11 a.m., when officers attempted to stop a fleeing vehicle with the suspects inside.
Two vehicles crashed and the two suspects fled the vehicle with at least one firearm, which was believed to be stolen from the earlier break-and-enter, as well as ammunition.
Cpl. Douglass adds public safety is not at risk, but says in a release a responding officer fired a shot during the RCMP’s interaction on the highway with the suspects and no one was hurt.
An analyst remains on-scene as long as needed for the investigation, forcing an indefinite closure of Highway between Knell and Shamrock Roads.
Anyone with more information about this incident is asked to call the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300, anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or online at pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca.
