UPDATED: Two commercial vehicles collide head on near Pine Pass

Two commercial vehicles that were loaded with lumber collided head-on, about eight to 10 km south of Pine Pass today at approximately 12:40 p.m., Cpl. Mike Halskov tells PrinceGeorgeMatters. 

He adds Highway 97 is expected to be close for numerous hours, possibly into tomorrow. 

Police are investigating while crews work to remove vehicles and debris making it safe for travel? 

No detour is currently available. 

Halskov asks motorists to check DriveBC before heading out.

If you're travelling along Highway 97, be prepared for delays. 

Highway 97 is closed between Kennedy Rd. and Azu Sub Rd. for 1.9 km due to a vehicle incident.

The incident is roughly eight to 10 km south of the Pine Pass. The road is closed and no detour is available. 

The estimated time of reopening is 11:30 p.m. tonight (March 7).
