Northern Health records no new COVID-19 test-positive cases, provincial total rises to 2,558

B.C. now has recorded 2,558 test-positive COVID-19 cases after the latest update from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix. 

In the past 24 hours, nine cases have been discovered Henry announced this afternoon (May 28). 

Northern Health has recorded zero new cases in the past day, keeping the total at 63.

There is 899 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), 1274 in Fraser Health, 127 on Vancouver Island and195 in the Interior Health region.Henry added 33 people are hospitalized throughout B.C. with six in ICU.

The outbreak that hit the Mission Institution correctional centre has now officially been declared over.

Another two deaths have been reported in the past day for a provincial total of 164 since the virus hit B.C.

There are 241 active cases throughout B.C. Meanwhile, a total of 2,153 people have made full recoveries. 

Henry said yesterday mid-June is now the timeline in determining whether restrictions will be loosened or tightened ahead of summer.

"This slow and thoughtful approach is our ‘new normal.’"

"It is grounded in what we know about COVID-19 today and will continue to be adapted as we learn more in the weeks and months ahead."
