It’s undoubtedly been a rough year for local dance organizations, but a new Prince George group is ready to take the stage for the very first time.

Method Dance Society is set to deliver its inaugural performance in late November, which will be roughly three months after officially introducing itself to the city.

The audience is set to take in a relatable theme to Bodies in Isolation as the COVID-19 pandemic was the show’s inspiration.

Artistic Director Shelby Richardson says contemporary movements in free space are set to tell a story of the challenges these unprecedented times have presented.

“As dancers, daughters, mothers, and women - the pandemic has transformed our realities,” she tells PrinceGeorgeMatters.

“In this performance [...] Method dancers explore the ways in which our physical and virtual identities have shifted in response to social isolation and the heavy digitization of our identities during the pandemic.”

Method is a non-profit organization that aims to provide opportunities for young performers and up-and-coming choreographers in Prince George.

It developed a core group in July before officially going public in August, and, at the time, talked of plans to produce several projects for the 2020-21 season.

Bodies in Isolation will premiere Nov. 26 and continue until Nov. 28 at Theatre NorthWest (TNW).

Tickets can be purchased through TNW’s website, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, only a limited number will be sold.

More information on Method Dance Society can be found on its website and Facebook page.
