Good news, Thanksgiving lovers!

If you’re a runner and don’t have a turkey for the big dinner this weekend, there’s a way for you to win one in Prince George.

The first-ever Turkey Trot 5K race is set for this Saturday (Oct. 12), 9 a.m. at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club along the Otway trails, with two turkeys up for grabs for participants.

If you cross the finish line first, you win a free turkey!

If you enter the race and don’t win, the other bird will be a draw prize.

Racers are also encouraged to be creative and run in costumes as homemade pies will be awarded to the best-dressed competitors.

There is a cost to running in the Turkey Trot and it’s cash only.

It’s $10 for adults and $12 for kids aged 12 and under, but there is a $5 rate for families entering the race together.

Donations are also being accepted for the Caledonia Nordic youth ski programs.

Registration is between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m.
