Nothing builds strength and confidence quite like rock climbing. Anyone who’s been interested in trying out rock climbing will be able to do so for free at one of Prince George’s Community Try-It events.

OverHang Climbing Gym, located at 2601 RecPlace Drive inside the Golf and Curling Club, is hosting a free Try-It session on Wednesday, May 8.

This free beginner session provides the opportunity to try out a new activity with professional instruction and coaching.

You’ll have to be over the age of five to participate, and don’t need to bring any equipment. You’ll just have to wear athletic clothes and non-marking shoes, and if you have long hair you’ll have to tie it back.

The free rock-climbing session takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on May 8, but those interested will have to pre-register as there are limited spots available.

Community Try-It programs are made possible through a partnership with the City of Prince George, Engage Sport North and seven Prince George Community Associations.

There will be 22 Sport Discovery Try-It Programs throughout 2019, and you can check out and sign up for upcoming sessions online.

For example, there’s also a mini four-week yoga program starting April 3 hosted by the Beaverly West Leisure Society Community Association and Engage Sport North.

You’ll have to be over 18-years-old to join this one, and it cost only $20 for the whole program, which takes place at Beaverly Elementary.
