Volunteers were kept busy again during Operation Red Nose’s third weekend of the season.
On Friday, Dec. 14 80 volunteers, including 19 road teams delivered 119 safe rides home, travelling a total of 2,898 km.
Then on Saturday, Dec. 15, 67 volunteers, including 16 road teams delivered 125 safe rides home, travelling 2,949 km.
That's a total of 244 rides over 12 hours covering 5,847 km. After six nights of service so far this season, Operation Red Nose has provided 586 rides and travelled 15,048 km.
The organization is still looking for about 36 more volunteers for New Year’s Eve. Anyone interested in helping out can apply online as soon as possible. However, the application does include a criminal record check.
Operation Red Nose will be out again on Friday, Dec. 21 and Saturday, Dec. 22. Call them at 250-962-7433 between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. if you need a lift.
And if you’re not in the know, Operation Red Nose is a free and confidential designated driving service where a team of road volunteers will pick you up and drive you home safely in your own vehicle. The service is offered by donation with the proceeds going back into the community to organizations dedicated to youth.
