PHOTOS: Highway 16 collision east of Vanderhoof sends three to hospital

Mounties now investigating the cause of multi-vehicle collision

4:30 p.m.

North District RCMP confirms of apparent injuries from a collision near Vanderhoof this afternoon (Aug. 25).

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson tells PrinceGeorgeMatters three people were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle incident closed Highway 16 in both directions between Carman Hill and Teichroeb Roads.

First responders were called to the incident around 2:45 p.m.

In regards to what caused the incident, an investigation is underway by Vanderhoof Mounties.

The highway has since reopened for traffic.

4:05 p.m.

Highway 16 is now open in both directions after a collision this afternoon closed the stretch completely.

Drive BC said the multi-vehicle incident occurred between Carman Hill Road and Teichroeb Road, which brought in emergency crews.

It's unknown as of this publication if anyone was injured.

3:33 p.m.

Highway 16 is closed in both directions about 4 km east of Vanderhoof.  There's been a vehicle incident between Carman Hill Road and Teichroeb Road.

Emergency crews, including RCMP, fire and paramedics are attending to the scene. A detour is not available. 

Drive BC says the estimated re-opening time is 4:15 p.m. 

There's no information, as of yet, regarding any injuries. 

3:15 p.m.

Traffic may be affected east of Vanderhoof on Highway 16 due to an accident.

Witnesses say the road is closed in both directions as emergency crews, including RCMP, fire crews and paramedics, tend to the scene.

There appears to have been a collision involving a white pick-up truck.
