RCMP are asking witnesses to come forward in light of a suspicious incident near a local elementary school where a man attempted to lure a student into his vehicle.

Prince George Mounties say they received a report yesterday (April 19) that between the hours of 2:30 and 3 p.m., a young child was walking home from school on 300-block Wilson Crescent.

A tan-coloured vehicle with tinted windows approached him and the male driver attempted to get them into his vehicle.

The youth states an older student called out to him, offered to walk them home and as they approached, the vehicle drove away.

"Investigators are asking that anyone who noticed a vehicle matching that description to contact the detachment with their information," says spokesperson Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

"Additionally, residents in that area who have video surveillance watching the street should check their recordings for images of this vehicle or incident. Police would like to speak with the driver of the vehicle and encourage them to self-identify."

Anyone with information is asked to call Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300, anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or go online to www.northernbccrimestoppers.ca.
