A Prince George man will spend time behind bars after breaking into a commercial business on Dec. 16.

Prince George RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a business in the 400-block Queensway shortly after 11 p.m.

Police attended the scene and searched the area for the suspect. Mounties say the suspect gained entry by breaking off a car mirror and smashing a window to the business. He then stole some clothing.

Prince George RCMP found 43-year-old Robert Richard Prettie (who is well known to police) a short time later, wearing the stolen attire.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved the following charges against Prettie:

  • Break and enter to commit theft
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Mischief under $5,000

He attended court on Monday (Dec. 17) and pled guilty. He was sentenced to 118 days in jail and was given one year of probation.
