Prince George hockey product catching wave through BCHL trade to Cowichan Valley

Brett Fudger scored 14 points in Junior ‘A’ rookie season

From Cougar to Viper to Capital.

Brett Fudger remains on the move as the Prince George hockey product was part of a trade deal this month in the BCHL and will begin his next venture on Vancouver Island.

The 18-year-old is joining the Cowichan Valley Capitals following his junior ‘A’ debut campaign with Vernon, recording 12 assists and 14 points in 48 games.

A season prior, Fudger led the Cariboo Cougars with 25 helpers, part of 40 regular-season points, plus a team-high five playoff goals en route to the program’s third BC U-18 AAA title.

Altogether, the Prince Rupert product accumulated a career record of 57 points in 77 games with Cariboo.

In his return to Prince George on Nov. 13, 2019, Fudger provided an assist in the Vipers' 2-1 victory over the Spruce Kings.

Last season, the Capitals finished second in the BCHL’s Island Division with a record of 35-16-5-2, one point behind first-place Victoria.

The team also eliminated the Powell River Kings in the first round of the playoffs, but did not meet the Grizzlies in the second round as COVID-19 forced the ultimate cancellation.

The BCHL is set to open the 2020-21 season on Dec. 1 with or without fans.
