If you're a bookworm and spend time at the Prince George Public Library, you'll want to be aware of a closure due to construction.

The City of Prince George has announced a week-long closure from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1 as part of the construction of the new library entrance and circulation area with significant demolition work scheduled for the week of the closure.

If you have one or more items due between Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, you can put them in the book drop which is located in the ground-level parking area.

You can also return your materials without any penalties when the library re-opens on Nov. 2.

Due dates are also be extended by one week for all items that are due back to the Bob Harkins Branch during the closure.

The city adds the Nechako Branch in the Hart will stay open throughout the downtown branch's closure, except for Oct. 30.

The $4.36 million library renovation project will include a new, multi-story entrance while also enhancing the reception/circulation area. It's expected to open in early 2020.

The library was originally built in 1981.
