With the BCHL still awaiting its fate on a potential 2020-21 season during COVID-19, the Prince George Spruce Kings are giving back in helping local athletes.

The team has unveiled its Female Spruce Kings Camp taking place throughout the month of February in an effort to develop, expand and grow the game.

This is the latest edition of the Prince George Spruce Kings Hockey School, which, in the past, has provided related camps for kids and youth during the summer and winter months.

Coaches, as well as a player, will facilitate sessions at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA) and provide a full regiment of training for girls born between 2006 and 2010.

ViaSportBC remains in Phase Two during the pandemic, which means minor clubs can host non-contact practices, but must maintain at a three-metre distance before, during and after activities.

Masks must also be worn inside the RMCA, as per B.C.’s mandatory order for indoor public and retail spaces, but is not required when athletes are on the ice.

Provincial public health orders are formally in place until Feb. 5, 2021.

Budding hockey stars interested in participating are encouraged to sign up for the program, set to take place every Sunday in February from 10 to 11 a.m.

There’s an $80 fee per person.

A registration form and more information can be found on the Spruce Kings’ website.
