Film buffs, rejoice!

Cineplex is reopening several more theatres across Canada this week, including Prince George's Famous Players 6 in the Parkwood Mall on Friday (Aug. 14).

The theatre itself has been closed since the middle of March in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in order to help reduce the potential spread of the virus.

However, there are strict conditions guests are being asked to follow.

This includes limiting the capacity of all six screening rooms to 24 people each, which includes two wheelchair seats, and tickets must be reserved and purchased either online, through the Cineplex App or at a self-serve kiosk.

Though it's not mandatory, guests are also recommended to wear a face-covering when attending a movie and are encouraged to arrive no more than 15 minutes before the show to allow room for physical distancing in the lobby.

If you don't own a mask, Cineplex says one will be offered free of charge at the door upon entry. It's encouraging guests experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, the flu or a cold to stay home.

Staff are also set to wear personal protective equipment, will wipe all surfaces with industrial-grade products between each show and will undergo deep cleaning and sanitization every night.

Cineplex says other key areas of its theatres will be wiped down every 30 minutes and hand sanitizer will be available in the lobby and arcade.

In Prince George, depending on film availability, Cineplex appears to be showing three movies in its theatre, but is providing several show-time options given the limited seating.

For its return, Famous Players 6 will screen Unhinged, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run and Inception: 10th Anniversary Event.

Showtimes and seating availability can be found on Cineplex's website, as well as more information on its health and safety approach.
