Environment Canada is calling for a 60 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms to start Prince George's Canada Day long weekend.

Saturday (June 29) will start with a mix of sun and cloud and will eventually get to a high of 20 C.

The thunderstorms may kick in by the late afternoon and continue on into the evening.

Partly cloudy skies will bring in another 60 per cent chance of showers as well.

The low will dip to 7 C.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch yesterday (June 28) before 11 a.m. for the city.

That advisory also applies to the Pine Pass, Peace River, Nechako Valley, and Bulkley Valley and Lakes District.
