After another successful year, the Teen Art Showcase is coming back to the Prince George Public Library.

The showcase saw an increase from 25 submissions in 2018 to 40 submissions in 2019 for the month-long exhibition of work by teen artists in grades 8-12. Any teenager is invited to submit a piece.

Each artist can submit one piece in any medium of their choice. Artists should prepare their pieces for exhibition and determine if they’d like to sell their pieces.

Submissions must be dropped off at Studio 2880 on 15 Avenue on Friday, Jan. 31 or Saturday, Feb. 1 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The month-long exhibition of work by teen artists is the result of a partnership between the Community Arts Council of Prince George and District and the Prince George Public Library.

The pieces will be on display at Bob Harkins Branch from Feb. 3 to 29 and the public can view the art any time the branch is open.

The young artists can also win a $200 cash prize in a few different categories.

Prizes will be given out for:

  • Most Original
  • Best Use of Materials
  • People’s Choice
  • Best Overall
  • Social Commentary

The prizes will be awarded at a celebration for the artists on Saturday, Feb. 29 at Bob Harkins Branch.

The Showcase also has the support of Friends of the Library and the Kiwanis Club of Prince George.

If you are looking for more information regarding the showcase you can contact Teen Librarian Chris Knapp at 250-563-9251 (ext. 106).
