The message from Mounties is simple... slow down!

A driver is now without their truck for a week after they were caught excessively speeding along the Hart Highway on Wednesday (Feb. 10).

According to Prince George RCMP, its Traffic Services Unit impounded a 2020 Ford F-350, shortly after 6:30 p.m., after they clocked them at 134 km/h, which was almost double the 70 km/h posted speed limit.

The vehicle was heading north near Kenworth Road East when the incident took place.

Spokesperson Cst. Jennifer Cooper is reminding the public, especially in extreme cold temperatures, to adjust driving habits in order to prevent a worse outcome as a result of speeding.

This is just a reminder to drivers that the posted speed limits are reflective of road safety in ideal conditions," she explained.

It is safe to say that our roads at these temperatures are not ideal. Please slow down so you and the other people on the road with you all arrive home safely.

The driver was issued a $483 excessive-speeding violation ticket for their actions and the truck has been impounded for seven days.
