A man and a woman are facing several criminal charges after Mounties in northern B.C. completed a search warrant that seized drugs, a weapon and cash.
Quesnel RCMP say a drug trafficking investigation over the B.C. Day long weekend has made a ‘major impact’ on the local trade after finding more than 500 grams of meth, roughly 750 ecstasy capsules, 20 grams of cocaine, a .22 calibre rifle and $34,705 in cash in a rural home and two storage lockers.
On Sunday (Aug. 2), the detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit arrested the two suspects without incident after issuing a search warrant at the property where they were residing.
They now face charges that include:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of proceeds of crime
- Firearm-related charges
“The trafficking of drugs in our community will always be a priority to the Quesnel Detachment,” stated Sgt. Richard Weseen in a news release.
“The pro-active policing initiatives by the Crime Reduction Unit, and the General Duty members, will continue to send a message that drug trafficking will not be tolerated in Quesnel.”
Names of the suspects are not being released to the public at this time.
Quesnel police add this investigation began in April this year specifically targeting meth trafficking in the city and its surrounding areas.
Anyone with more information about other related incidents is encouraged to call their local detachment or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
